On January 16, 1938 Benny Goodman brought his swing orchestra to America’s venerated home of European classical music, Carnegie Hall. The resulting concert – widely considered one of the most significant events in American music history – helped to usher jazz and swing music into the American cultural mainstream. This reputation has been perpetuated by Columbia Records’ 1950 release of the concert on LP. Now, in Benny Goodman’s Famous 1938 Carnegie Hall Jazz Concert, jazz scholar and musician Ca

BASSIST STANLEY CLARKE RECORDS FIRST ACOUSTIC JAZZ TRIO ALBUM FEATURING HIROMI AND LENNY WHITE In a career that spans nearly four decades and includes gigs with Return to Forever, Rite of Strings and a variety of other solo and collaborative projects along the way, bassist Stanley Clarke one of the most prominent voices in electric jazz and fusion had seemingly covered every possible corner of the jazz landscape. But there was one avenue he had yet to explore. I had never done an acoustic bass record, ever, he says. Theres a long list of people on whose records Ive played acoustic bass Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, Joe Henderson and many others but Id never done an acoustic jazz trio record of my own. So I wanted to record one that would just feature the piano and the acoustic bass in a way that you could really hear the bass. This long-overdue dream project becomes a reality with the May 12, 2009, worldwide release of Jazz In The Garden (HUCD 3155) on Heads Up International, a division of Concord Music Group. For his first straightahead acoustic jazz trio recording, Clarke assembles two brilliant collaborators at the top of their respective games: pianist Hiromi Uehara and drummer Lenny White. Each represents a distinctly different generational and cultural perspective, but given the range and versatility of both, the net effect is superb. Indeed, the synergy resulting from all three of these luminaries makes for one of the most refreshing Stanley Clarke …

Here my version of this nice tune. I noticed that the keyboard that I have outlined… you may not always see some notes that I have played, the guilt is the midi dynamic, with some dynamic low play unbaked not reproduced by this midi keyboard. I think that next time I will rule the dynamics at the most. I hope you enjoy. For stereo sound just go to: vids.myspace.com More informations. Autumn Leaves” is a much-recorded popular song. Originally a 1945 French song “Les feuilles mortes” (literally “Dead Leaves”) with music by Joseph Kosma and lyrics by poet Jacques Prévert, English lyrics were written in 1947 by the American songwriter Johnny Mercer. It has become a pop standard and a jazz standard in both languages, and as an instrumental. “Les feuilles mortes” was introduced by Yves Montand in 1946 for the film Les Portes de la Nuit.[1] The film Autumn Leaves (1956) starring Joan Crawford featured the song, which was sung by Nat King Cole over the title sequence. The French songwriter Serge Gainsbourg wrote “La chanson de Prévert” as a tribute to this song. About the Composer: Kosma was born József Kozma in Budapest, where his parents taught stenography and typing. He had a brother, Akos. A maternal relative was the photographer László Moholy-Nagy, and another relative was the conductor Georg Solti. He started to play the piano at age …
These Are Available Smooth Jazz Stations That Still Remain.
With many of the smooth jazz stations having switched to new formats lately when I originally made this video for my original channel last year I made a few videos with some of the station ID’s at the beginning of the song from the old smooth jazz station in Chicago WNUA 95.5 which is now a spanish language station. Let me also say that while NUA was “Clear Channel” station, it was all that we had here, & I HATE clear channel with a passion. I believe that they along with some of the other corporate radio operaters helped speed up the demise of GOOD music by failing to support smaller regional, & local acts that actually have talent as opposed to the no talent bums being promoted by the large record companies today. * stepping down from soapbox *

This is a theme I composed influenced by the movement of “Free Jazz” in the sixties. Despite the appearance of atonal music, the tone on the whole subject is the C note. Then, I developed the melody and chord changes. I also created the drum loop too. Thanks for watching this video. Soon, I will continue doing various experiments within the Jazz. Stay in peace and goodbye.
